About Us

Phoinix Foundation for Gamers is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which seeks to harness the extraordinary power of on-line video gaming to address the most pressing issues young adults face today: bullying, homophobia, bigotry, social isolation, depression, and over-eating. Phoinix Foundation provides support, visibility and shared resources to young gamers which promote healthy family values, mutual respect for others, and continuing education. Founded in 2004, Phoinix Foundation for Gamers acts as a knowledge base and resource hub to help young gamers on their turf – within their gaming clan or community.

Phoinix Foundation for Gamers was organized initially as an outreach to the Phoinix UGC community as a way to help kids emotionally, educationally, and socially. Today, with 5 affiliate gaming communities and 2,000 young gaming members, Phoinix Foundation for Gamers is the largest outreach and advocacy center exclusively for gamers. Members are located across the country and globe, some are professional gamers, most are typical young adults, and all have come to us for a safe and empowering on-line gaming environment.

Several years ago, Larry "PhNx Neon Mech" and I "PhNx YUFFIE" created a gaming community called Phoinix UGC. Over time, Phoinix UGC gaming grew in numbers; they also grew together as a family. I discovered that there were a large number of younger gamers who struggled in school, were bullied, had serious family issues, were depressed, and several were facing suicidal thought patterns. It became clear the only people they would talk to were their “gaming family”. I felt at the time, and still do that we had to do something about it!
